Door Sequencing That Really Matches Your Space, and Your Tastes

September 2022

Grey four door sliding wardrobe

Did you know that when choosing your door designs on our sliding wardrobes, you can mix and match the order of your doors in almost any way you want?

This short video provides a visual explanation of how the process works:

At My Sliding Wardrobe, we pride ourselves on the fact that our extensive range of exquisite sliding wardrobe options means you can create a wardrobe that is as individual as you are. This includes styling the doors uniquely to your personal taste and placing them in any order you wish, to create a perfect storage space that will really add the wow factor to your room.

We offer 12 different door designs with finishes in mirror, matt woodwork, premium woodgrain and premium glass that you can specifically tailor within the 3D design tool, all at unbeatable prices and using the highest quality materials, handmade right here in the UK.

When selecting the doors you require using our 3D design tool, you can choose between having a set of doors all in the same design and/or finish on both the front and rear track channels, or you can have completely different door designs and finishes on the front and rear track channels.

When designing your wardrobe, you will be prompted to select which doors you want on the front track channel and which ones you want on the rear track channel. Our 3D wardrobe builder automatically shows you these as alternate front and rear doors so that you can see how your design looks in situ before you decide if it is right for you. The left hand door will always be shown as a rear track channel door and the remaining doors will be positioned alternately as you move towards the right. The 4 door example below shows the rear track channel doors as Denver Single Panel and the front track channel doors as Chicago Triple Panel.

However, should you wish to get a little more creative with your design, you can opt to fit your doors in a different sequence or even choose a different number of doors in each design. On all 2 door and 3 door wardrobes, this can be done whilst designing and/or installing the doors as all options are already automatically available. This means it is on 4, 5 and 6 door wardrobes where additional steps may be required.

So what are your door design options and what do you need to do if you want to create a more bespoke design?

On our 4, 5 and 6 door wardrobes, using our 3D design tool, you can include up to 2 different door designs spread over the number of doors you require (front track channel doors and rear track channel doors). These are automatically shown in combinations of:

All of our doors are the same size so the positions of the doors can generally be swapped around as you require. For example, below you can see the design still has 2 doors in one design and 2 doors in another design and there are still 2 doors on the front track channel and 2 doors on the rear track channel. This means it can be done automatically on the website without any additional support from MSW. All you would need to do is install the doors in the order you want them.

One popular request we receive from our customers is to have the same two middle doors on their 4 door wardrobe, which close together on the front track channel, with an alternative design for the rear track channel doors on either side. This is not something we generally recommend as the doors are designed to overlap rather than sitting side by side. However, it is possible and again it is still 2 doors on the front track channel and 2 doors on the rear track channel, so this can be done automatically on the website without any additional support from MSW, then installed as you wish.

With some help from us, you can also change the quantity of each door design, for instance, the 4 door wardrobe could consist of 1 door in one design and 3 doors in another design. You would still need 2 doors on the rear track channel and 2 on the front track channel for it to function correctly, however you could still have a 3&1 design mix, like in the image below. To do this, we would need to manually adjust the order for you after it has been placed, which is very quick and simple to do.

For the 5 door example below, you can see the design still has 2 doors in one design and 3 doors in another and there are still 2 doors on the front track channel and 3 doors on the rear track channel, so this can be done automatically on the website without any additional support from MSW. All you would need to do is install the doors in the order you want them.

You would still need 3 doors on the rear track channel and 2 on the front track channel for it to function correctly, however you could still have a 4&1 design mix, like in the image below. What to do if you want to change the sequence of doors from our standard options?

Changing the door sequences

If you simply require a change to the sequencing of your doors but do not wish to change the number of different door designs which are automatically generated for you when using the 3D wardrobe builder, simply place your order, contact us so we can check the soft close directions and then fit the doors in the order in which you require, or if you are using our fitting service, explain how you wish the doors to be positioned to the fitters when they arrive.

Changing the number of door designs

If you wish to adjust the number of different door designs which are automatically generated for you when using the wardrobe builder, simply design your wardrobe, place your order and contact us so we can check the soft close directions and adjust the quantity of each door. This may lead to a payment being due from you or due to you depending on the price of each door and how the quantity of each door design will change. Once we have sorted this for you (it will not hold up delivery or installation at all), you can then fit the doors in the order in which you require, or if you are using our fitting service, explain how you wish the doors to be positioned to the fitters when they arrive.

Still unsure about anything, or feel you need a little more guidance?
