How do I Organise my Sliding Wardrobe?

As we have more time on our hands than usual, we’ve put together some advice on how to effectively and simply organise your sliding wardrobe.

In recent weeks, a lot of us have had more time on our hands than usual which has inspired a lot of people to get those pesky little jobs done that have been sat on the to-do list for way too long, and just generally tidy and sort the house. A very rewarding task and one that is always long overdue is to organise your wardrobe. With Spring just around the corner, it’s also perfect timing, so we’ve put together some advice on how to effectively and simply organise your sliding wardrobe.

Keep, Bin or Donate

The first step of any good organising session is to get rid of items that you don’t want or need anymore in order to free up as much space as possible. You’ll be pretty shocked (or maybe not!) to learn that in general, people only wear 20% of what’s in their wardrobe. Meaning, there’s probably around 80% that you don’t necessarily use or need. However, instead of getting rid of everything in that 80%, you could use another rule – if you haven’t worn it in the last year, you probably won’t wear it again. Start at one side of your wardrobe and work your way through, making a ‘keep’, ‘sell’ or ‘donate’ pile for those items that still have plenty of life left in them.

Clever Storage

When you’ve worked your way through the items in your sliding wardrobe to create the ultimate capsule wardrobe, it’s now time to get clever with storage and shelving to create the most room possible. When it comes to your clothes, what can be folded and what do you prefer hung? When it comes to storage solutions, a fitted wardrobe interior can provide endless solutions for clothes, shoes and accessories. An interior with shelf space and lots of available storage compartments is always a popular choice as it helps make everything as visible as possible, ensuring no item gets forgotten about. If you share a sliding wardrobe, a great idea is to split the wardrobe in a way that works with the door positions and opening height and gives you hanging and individual space on each side and at each level. All of our wardrobes are available with interiors that have flexible positions for the dividing shelf stacks.

Personalise

Wardrobes can be one of the few private spaces we have, making them a great place to keep sentimental or particular items on display. A fully organised, new sliding wardrobe will feel good in itself, but it’s even better to see something that will make you smile every time you open the doors.
