L-Shaped Corner Wardrobes

January 2022

All of our wardrobes make the best use of spare space to give much needed storage and are designed to be adaptable and flexible so they can be easily customised and fitted depending on your needs. Although more complex than a standard sliding wardrobe, it is relatively straightforward to create, order and install an L-shaped or corner sliding wardrobe once you know what to do.

We regularly get asked if we sell L-shaped or corner fitted sliding wardrobes to fit into the corner of customers rooms and because L-shaped wardrobes are made from two wardrobes, the answer is yes! We understand that rooms can often have a spare corner and that it is desirable to have sliding doors in any part of a room considered spare, however there are a few things to check before ordering your new corner sliding wardrobe.

Tips for creating and ordering your new L-shaped corner sliding wardrobe,

    • STEP 1 – Measure the space from the end of the wardrobe to the middle corner on each side and ensure it is at least 140cm on each side. Any less than this will mean the access and doors on each side will just be too small.

    • STEP 2 – Consider if the L-shaped wardrobe will run from a wall or end panel on each side. This means it will either be wall-middle corner-wall, wall-middle corner-end panel, end panel-middle corner-wall or end panel-middle corner-end panel.

    • STEP 3 – You need to deduct between 580mm to 640mm from the opening width of 1 side to accommodate the depth of the other side of the wardrobe and then deduct the same less 18mm for the other side. For example, if your measurement from the wall to the middle corner to the wall is 2000mm and 3000mm and the depth you want is 600mm (between 580mm and 640mm), you would use an opening width of 1400mm and 2418mm.

    • STEP 4 Create 2 wardrobes at the new reduced widths using our 3D design tool, both with casing on all sides. Both will need to have the middle corner side set as a wall and the opposite side for each is to be set as either end panel or wall as per step 1.

If choosing internals, please remember one will have to be 580mm to 640mm (your chosen wardrobe depth) longer than the opening widths used which means we will need to check that the components you receive are correct before order. Please contact us to find out more and we will advise you on exactly what is needed.

If in any doubt contact us, we are here to help and will guide you through what you need.
