Soft Close Packs For Your Sliding Wardrobe

January 2026

When it comes to designing your ideal sliding wardrobe, it’s important to remember that it’s not just about how it looks, but also how it feels. You’ll enjoy the smooth, satisfying glide as you open your sliding doors every day – and with our popular soft close packs, you can add an extra layer of satisfaction as your doors slide and then pull closed softly into their resting position when you’re done.

What does ‘soft close’ mean?

A soft close feature is a relatively simple concept, preventing something for closing too hard or banging by gently slowing down certain components before they close. Most people will be familiar with soft close drawers or soft close toilet seats, and sliding doors are another great way of using this feature. Rather than slamming shut, the sliding door instead is caught by the soft close and pulled up against the wall or casing in a soft and gentle manner, preventing it from bouncing against the surface or rolling back open.

Soft close technology has become a popular feature in modern furniture design throughout the home, particularly in kitchen cupboards and drawers. You may already have it in your home and enjoy the subtlety of its benefits without even thinking about it.

Why should I consider a soft close pack for my sliding wardrobe?

A soft close pack can enhance the way your wardrobe feels and functions. The effortless cushioned closure adds to the premium quality of your finished wardrobe while eliminating the loud bang of a door closed too quickly or enthusiastically.

They are a great option to reduce the risk of trapped fingers, which is an additional reassuring safety feature, particularly in family homes – while also helping to prevent potential wear and tear from repeated use in the long-term.

They reduce the risk of damage to the wall or casing or sliding door itself whilst not restricting or limiting the movement of the doors in any way, they simply provide a ‘cushioned’ closure that enhances your wardrobe experience.

✔ Enhanced functionality

✔ Extra safety feature

✔ Noise reduction

✔ Wall / Casing protection

✔ Extends the life of the sliding door

How do I add a soft close pack to my sliding wardrobe and what’s included?

Our soft close packs are available to add to your order during the design process. Once you have finalised your perfect sliding wardrobe design including casing and interiors (if required), you’ll be given the option to add the soft close pack to your order and shown the cost.

Your soft close pack includes everything you need to ensure your left- and right-hand doors will close softly on their respective sides:

  • Soft close mechanism (directional and pre-fitted to required sliding doors)
  • Soft close activator & adapter plate (1 set per door fitted with a soft close mechanism)
  • Door positioner (as many as required for sliding wardrobes with more than 2 doors)

If you opt to include the pack with your order, a soft close mechanism will be pre-fitted to the top of your sliding doors. During installation, each mechanism then combines with a soft close activator to form the complete soft close device.

For wardrobes with 3+ sliding doors, door positioners are supplied to help guide the additional doors gently into their resting positions. The soft close activators and door positioners are fitted into the top track in line with the instructions by the person installing.

Do you have any other features to enhance my sliding wardrobe?

Absolutely. We offer a wide range of optional extras to help make sure your sliding wardrobe has every bit of functionality you need it to, whether it’s additional storage or extra protective features.

Buffer strips, for example, run down the sliding door edge to act as an extra layer of cushioning when the door makes contact with other doors, the wardrobe casing or wall. They are also a useful way to help hide imperfections in your existing wall if casing hasn’t been included. They make a fantastic addition to a soft close pack, however you can add them to your wardrobe without a soft close pack. Door positioners are already included in the soft close pack, but you can add them to your order separately if you choose not to opt for the pack.

We also offer a range of soft close drawer packs, which can be easily fitted internally in combination with our shelf stacks. Freestanding shelving and soft close drawer options are also available, which can be used internally or as matching furniture to complement your sliding wardrobe. Please don’t forget, we also offer wireless LED sensor lights, which are magnetic for quick release, can be charged on a phone charger and illuminate when you open the sliding wardrobe doors.
