Everything You Need to Know About Our Sliding Wardrobe Installation Service
June 2020
After you’ve designed your new sliding wardrobe and await delivery, the final step is bringing everything together with a quality installation.
If you’ve opted to fit your wardrobes yourself or to use a local tradesperson, you’ll receive full installation instructions with your delivery. However, if you’ve opted for the expert assistance of our national fitting service, here’s everything you may want to know…
Who will be installing my sliding wardrobe?
Our carefully-selected and trusted exclusive network of experienced professionals operate nationwide and your installation will likely have been arranged with an installer who is based in your region. This helps us ensure you receive a prompt, smooth, and dependable installation service.
Every installer in our network has extensive experience fitting our sliding wardrobes and is dedicated to maintaining our high installation standards, while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
How should I prepare the space before installation?
A little preparation beforehand can help the installation process run even more efficiently for you.
Fittings & Fixtures – If you have an existing fitted wardrobe that is being replaced, please ensure it is fully removed prior to the installation day. Don’t worry about skirting boards, coving or dado rails though, as your installer will deal with these during fitting.
Painting – Ahead of installation, you may want to consider painting the space in which your wardrobe will be fitted. This can help tie in the colour scheme with your wardrobe finish and is much easier than painting after it’s already installed.
Housekeeping – For all installations, we recommend a little preparatory housekeeping by:
● Removing furniture and personal belongings from the installation area where possible. Ideally outside of the room to leave sufficient room for your installer to work.
● Ensuring there are clear access routes from the entrance of your home to the room where the wardrobe will be fitted.
● Removing fragile items from nearby shelves, walls, or surfaces, both within the room and along access routes.
● Keeping pets and young children away from the area during the installation process.
Don’t worry if you’re unsure whether you’ve done enough preparation. Our installers will assess the space on arrival and let you know if there is anything else that would help the installation run smoothly.
What happens when the installer arrives?
Your installer will arrive at the agreed time and begin by introducing themselves and reviewing the installation plan with you.
Before any work begins, they should:
● Confirm the design and layout of your wardrobe with you.
● Check measurements and installation requirements.
● Assess the installation area and access routes.
● Protect the surrounding area (e.g. dust sheets) where necessary.
This initial review ensures that everything is ready before installation starts and gives you an opportunity to ask questions and confirm preferences.
What should I expect during the installation?
Every custom-built sliding wardrobe is manufactured precisely to your specifications, so installation is a carefully planned process, rather than a simple assembly job.
During the fitting, your installer will typically:
● Position and secure any end panels as required.
● Install any interior components such as hanging rails, shelf stacks or drawers.
● Fit the casing, tracks and any soft-close as necessary.
● Install, align and adjust the sliding doors into the tracks.
● Adjust and Fine-tune all moving parts to ensure smooth operation.
● Build any additional furniture included in your order, such as bedside units.
Your installer will need access to power tools and adequate working space while the wardrobe is being assembled and fitted. In most cases, this will involve the cutting of finished boards and may require adequate outdoor space. Throughout the installation, they will work carefully and methodically to ensure you receive a seamless, high-quality finish.
How long does a fixed price sliding wardrobe installation usually take?
A full installation for 1 wardrobe set is typically completed in a single day, however depending on the size and complexity of the order, it may extend to a maximum of two days. For multiple sets of wardrobes, installation will always be 1 day per set or less.
As a general guide:
● Smaller installations may be completed within a few hours.
● Most standard bespoke sliding wardrobes are installed within a single day.
● Larger or more complex projects may occasionally require additional time.
What happens once the installation is complete?
Once your sliding wardrobe has been fully installed, your installer will carry out a final inspection to ensure everything meets both your expectations and our quality standards, including:
● Check all doors glide smoothly and align correctly.
● Test internal storage features and accessories are fully secure.
● Walk you through your new wardrobe and answer any questions.
● Tidy and clean up the installation area and access routes.
This final handover allows you to see exactly how everything works and gives you complete confidence in your new storage solution.
All orders that include installation will have a small portion already paid upon placing the initial order. Once you are completely satisfied with your new fitted wardrobe, you will then need to pay the larger remaining balance to the installer once you are happy with the installation.
